Mechanix Wear receives "Official Product Status" for ABRAJuly 1, 2009 by Marketing DivaRacing

ABRA Chairman Sam Cole announced today that Valencia, California based Mechanix Wear has signed on as an associate sponsor of the 2009 ABRA racing season and will receive "Official Product Status" from the series.
"Mechanix Wear is an outstanding brand, highly respected by America's work force and especially the racing industry, and a company we are very proud to have associated with the American Boat Racing Association," said Cole.

Mechanix Wear Gloves became a major part of the American racing landscape when their gloves were used by pit crews at the 1992 Daytona 500.  Since then, the company has developed a complete line of quality racing equipment, gloves and shoes, as well as specialized gloves and equipment for construction, gardening, tactical and other automotive uses.
Mechanix Wear Director of Racing Ted Abdon said, "Mechanix Wear is very excited to be part of the ABRA series and we look forward to working with this exciting and unique form of motorsport.  We are confident that we will receive valuable input from the teams and series officials about our products, and will use that information to keep Mechanix Wear the Number 1 glove in all aspects of racing."
As part of the associate sponsorship, Mechanix Wear will provide each team with gloves and other merchandise. Gloves will also be provided to all ABRA staff, and Kevlar gloves and heat sleeves will be provided to the ABRA Safety Crew.
The 2009 "Mechanix Wear Crew Chief of the Year" will be awarded a trophy and product certificate for additional Mechanix Wear merchandise.

Pedregon Brothers Join the Mechanix Wear Racing ProgramMay 1, 2009 by MarketingRacing

Mechanix Wear is very proud to announce that Tony Pedregon Racing and Cruz Pedregon Racing, both Championship NHRA Funny Car teams, have joined the Mechanix Wear Racing and Development program.   Tony, a 2 time NHRA Funny Car Champion pilots the Quaker State sponsored Funny Car.  Cruz, also a 2-time champ, is the defending NHRA Funny Car Champion and mashes the throttle on his Advance Auto Parts sponsored entry.   Advance Auto Parts is a great partner of ours as they carry Mechanix Wear gloves in all of their stores.

It is great to have these two championship winning teams using our products and displaying our logo on their cars.  An added bonus is that they are both great guys who are really easy to work with and do an extraordinary job with the fans of drag racing and the promotion of their sponsors.

We look forward to a great season working with Cruz and Tony.

Historic Bike in Mechanix Wear LobbyMarch 25, 2009 by MarketingRacing

We wanted to make everyone aware that we have a new motorcycle on display in the lobby that has a lot of historical significance.  This bike is on loan from American Suzuki and was brought to Mechanix Wear for display through the efforts of Ray Tetherton of Suzuki and our own Brian Lunniss.

This bike is one that Ricky Carmichael rode in his last career professional motocross race at the Motocross of Nations held at Budds Creek, MD in September 2007.  I think most of you are aware that Ricky is the most successful motocross racer in history and to have on display the last bike he raced is a huge honor.  The bike is exactly how it was the day Ricky led the American team to its 19th victory in the world’s most prestigious annual international race.

Ricky, however, was not the last person to ride this bike.  That honor went to his long time mechanic, Mike Gosselaar.  The Suzuki team arranged for Mike to be the last person to ride RC’s last race bike, the day after the MX of Nations, on the same track that Ricky rode the bike to victory less than 24 hours earlier.   Mike has been a great user and supporter of Mechanix Wear and our products for many years.
